Dry gunning

Dry gunning (also called “gunning”) is an installation technique that consists in placing by pneumatic or mechanical projection.

The refractory castable (refractory concrete) is transported dry via compressed air to the nozzle. At the nozzle, a liquid is added and the mix hits the service location.

Dry gunning is a technique used to spray insulating castable or dense castable. The formulations are based on high quality aggregates such as vermiculite, fireclay, andalusite, corundum, bubble alumina.

Kerneos manufactures and sells refractory cements that can be used in dry gunning:

- Ciment Fondu® and SECAR® 51 for insulating castable and dense castable
- SECAR® 71 SECAR® 712, SECAR Plenium®, SECAR Xeniom™ and CMA 72 for dense castable and deflocculated castable

The selection of refractory cement is done according to the targeted service temperature. Please click on: http://www.secar.net/Solutions-for-refractories
